Crime Scene Investigation Reflection
For this project, we were assigned a crime scene to focus on. The first step in the project was to go to the crime scene, collect evidence and take pictures of the evidence. We narrowed the choices down to a few suspects that we would focus on. Next we processed DNA and got blood samples from the victim and from our suspects. Finally after DNA processing, and collecting evidence we were able to find the culprit. We then exhibited our process on poster boards in our all school exhibition.
Personally, I really enjoyed this project. This project was different then most and its the type of project that you would not normally expect to do in Biology, but for me it was well worth it. One aspect that I liked about this project was that it was really hands on and you really had to know what you were doing in order to do it right. Along the way, we learned a lot about bones and how to properly process DNA. My favorite part of this project was tying all the evidence together to find the culprit. I don't think that there is anything I would do differently for next year except to have more time to complete some of the assignments. Overall I really enjoyed this project and I am going to be really sad to leave Biology next year.
