Class Overview
During this first semester, we focused on our first big project called Born NOT in the USA/Nacido NO en los EEUU. In this project we picked a Spanish country for example, Costa Rica ( my choice). We wrote a children's book and added little tastes of the culture of the country we chose into the book. To see my reflections on the project, some pictures and a recording click on the following link: Project Reflections, Pictures and Recordings
Arte y Lengua
Descripcion del trabajo:
During the second semester we started the Arte y Lengua project. The Arte y Lengua project is where we choose a Spanish artist, we choose a piece of art that inspired us and either did a piece of art similar to it or a replica with our own style on it. To see my final paper about my piece of art and my artist, a picture of my art and my reflection of the project click here.

La Poesia de la Comida
For this project we had to pick a Spanish speaking country and choose a recipe from that country that we wanted to cook. Then we had to translate our recipe into Spanish. These recipes could be a dessert, a drink, an appetizer or a main dish. Once we chose a recipe, we had to pick an ingredient that we used in our recipe and write an ode to that recipe.
Below is my project reflection, my ode and my recipe! Enjoy!

Project Reflection
Overall, I really enjoyed this project. This project was very different compared to the other projects that I had in other classes. I enjoyed it because it was unique and was more hands on than most projects, and of course I liked the food aspects of it. I also liked being able to cook a dish of your choice and I think that the ode to one of the ingredients was really fun and added a lot to the project.

My Ode to the Orange
Araaa Aquarian ____ Oda De La Naranja
English
Oh orange
A gift from god you
A Golden gift from above
Like Golden rain falling from the sky
I watch you
The rising sun
Shining high in the clouds
Soft ridges along your skin
The orange petals within
The crystals of flavor
I hear you
The sound of children laughing
Your droplets of juice, like the dripping of the rain
I smell you
You smell like
A bountiful island
Like summer
The smell of your scent
Makes my stomach
Tingle
I taste you
A sweet
Sour
Taste on my tongue
The delicious juice explodes
In my mouth
Your flavor is tangy
Delicious
Refreshing
I mourn you
You wonderful

O naranja
Me Hace
Sentir hormigueo en el estomago.
Te saboreo
Un dulce
Amargo
El sabor en mi lengua
El Jugo delicioso explota
En mi boca
Tu sabor es agrio
Delicioso
Refrescante
Yo te lamento
Tu eres un regalo maravilloso
